The direct antiglobulin (direct Coombs) test establishes the diagnosis and may suggest the cause. Treatment depends on the cause and may include corticosteroids, splenectomy, IV immune globulin, immunosuppressants, avoidance of triggers (eg, cold), and withdrawal of drugs.
